LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS GOOD PRACTICE

The platform allows local residents to suggest ideas to develop their own neighborhoods in Reykjavik. The people then vote to select the best projects and the city provides advice and funding for their realization. The projects have no limits, but they must be implemented within the existing legal, territorial and budgetary constraints.

The use of modern technology and e-democracy enables a stronger connection between the city administration and the people of the district, regardless of election cycles. Better Reykjavik helps keep people engaged in politics and has very direct and obvious outcomes for both the residents and the city administration.
